In January 2011 Carrie was employed part-time as a Sales Assistant for a high street shoe shop. This was primarily a holiday job which Carrie went back to during her holidays whilst studying. Carrie continued on with the job after graduating as she viewed it as an opportunity to support herself financially whilst looking for and applying for other relevant roles. During 2010 Carrie had secured some work experience with a Yorkshire based organisation in broadcasting production and as a consequence has been fortunate enough to be invited to interviews for production related roles.

Carrie recognises the creative industries are competitive and knew it was only a matter of time before she secured the role that she wanted because she has the experience and was being invited to interviews. By June 2011 Carrie had secured a role in production with a major broadcasting organisation. Carrie stated Being trained up to this particular organisation's standards is highly desirable and can open a lot of doors which is good for my long term career as this is only an internship until April 2012. Carrie had gone out and secured relevant work experience as a student, but wishes she had questioned more about careers and actually gone into the Careers Centre in year one to have a chat about her options.
